low-end torque setup for dune riding sprocket plus chain advice

Hello everyone, I'm looking to increase my 2025 Africa Twin Standard's low-end torque so I can go dune bashing. Considering switching to a 45T rear sprocket and a 15T rubber front sprocket. Does anyone have a comparable setup? I'd be interested in knowing how it went for you.

Additionally, considering switching to a 520 chain for a little lighter weight or continuing with the 525 chain. What's going on here?

Hey! Switching to a 45T rear and 15T front sprocket should boost low-end torque for dunes. A 520 chain is lighter and fine if your bike handles it, but 525's more durable

I haven't run that exact combo (I'm on a 16T/46T for technical single track, which is a bit less aggressive than your proposed setup, ratio 2.875 vs your 3.00), but going down to a 15T front is a HUGE change for low end torque on an AT. It will absolutely transform the bike for slow speed control and grunt needed in deep sand.

Changing to a 15 front and 45 back gear will help your bike feel stronger at low speeds, especially in sand. I tried something like this, and it made a big difference! I used 525 so it would last longer, but if you're not carrying much weight, 520 might be okay too. GL!
